Carmen and I go to New York - Spring of 16
Picture
March 6 - Sunday morning, we both slept in till about 8 am, we had Sunday brunch at an Irish Pub just a couple of blocks from the Hilton, I had Steak and Eggs while Carmen had waffles. I think I have used my $75 allowance well on this trip. Back at the hotel we get all the kids out of bed and down to the lobby for our ride back to the airport. I take a few photos with my classes to post on my walls back in my classroom.

With our first trip of the year almost over, I can say that I hope there are more to come. Only one complaint of each other Carmen told me what upset her and I promised not to do it again. Hopefully she will remember my request as well. We had in walking and seeing as well as experiencing New York together. We are learning how to be together again and are conscience of each other.

Carmen was a bit scared at first in the plane but she is so much more relaxed now on the way home, I rushed her out on the intersection in New York at first but towards the end she was ready to cross streets before the lights changed. Each day she relaxed more and enjoyed the trip. We did get lost once and spent half an hour walking extra but that is part of walking a different city.
Carmen - On this last morning in NY - I slept in and woke up to pack our belongings.....it seems that we have more than we had before!   The shopping was so good that even Robert got out and got him some!  I hadn't seen Robert splurge on shoes like he did on this trip.  The shops were so fantastic - walking the streets and seeing the beautiful window displays.  This morning we walk out and find a quiet Pub to have our brunch - Old Castle Pub & Restaurant.  I did not have a bloody Mary - I had waffles with fruit/soft sweet cream and bacon .... and a cup of strong coffee.  I put some of the sweet cream in the coffee.  The breakfast was a great end to our trip- quiet, good food, great atmosphere.  Every restaurant that we have gone into had workers that actually matched the restaurants.  The Italian restaurant...waiters were speaking Italian to each other, here at this Irish Pub - they have the thick Irish accent.  Robert and I chat about the communities within the city....those communities that keep their people grounded to knowing about personal pride in who you are.   I  hope this day  is not an end but a great beginning.....traveling with Robert in our Empty Nest years.
