Just as we were leaving the pilgrim from Norway whom I had talked to last night told us about an upcoming town named Cudillero, a seaside town like the Cinque Terre, in Italy. Carmen during the ride had been telling me about her jelly legs so I thought about finding a good place to stop to make it a shorter day of riding.
As we continued to ride, I saw the sign to Cudillero and without telling Carmen decided to go see the town. I did not think it would be such a steep drop in elevation into the town for the last two or three kilometers. Still raining we rode into town and after walking around we decided not to ride back up the mountain, as we were tired. We go a hotel at Cudillero for about 65€, we quickly got cleaned up and walked the town. We bought a few items and took lots of pictures. We ended up eating dinner of papas aoli and shrimp with octopus all cut up in butter, garlic and olive oil. In the video below, we are trying out the local cider, it was a terrible bitter taste, drank about half a glass out of the full bottle, luckily it was only a couple of Euros.
Again we had turron ice cream and lots of pastries. We went into the town church for a short time. On the way back to the hotel we saw a taxi and asked if they could take us up the hill in the morning. I got the number on the street sign, took a photo and had planned on calling them in the morning to get us back to the Camino.
