We started out the day with about 4 – 5 k on the road before coming to an intersection where a guy pulled over and asked where we were going. He suggested taking the road by the coast, it would be a few hills to climb but a nice scenery.
We were not in a hurry so we took the sea route passing by a golf course, we did stage one fairly quick and into the second stage we came into San Vicente de la Vasquera we had a very nice sea food lunch right off the water. I had octopus and Carmen fish.
It was a lovely town. We saw other cyclist on the road and even having their own lunch out of their panniers as we had ours in the restaurant. While we were waiting for our lunch, just a few feet away from the restaurant a guy caught two squid for the restaurant to add atmosphere to the lunch break.
After an hour of rest we moved on towards a castle and had a pastry and café, then we walked up to the Castle and the grounds.
Our bodies now slow from a late lunch we drove on. I had hopes of doing another half stage but the weather got cooler and it looked like rain. We got an Albergue in the town of Unquera but after following the arrows a very steep kilometer plus.
We did not like the atmosphere so we looked for a hotel / pension. We found one in La Franca that cost us each 15€ each, but we had a room to ourselves. Dinner that night were some rolls with cheese we bought earlier that morning with marmalade.
