Lots off walking, the Skytrain to town

Robert

Full day in Vancouver.  We slept in at the Chinese B&B.  It had been raining all night, we hoped it would let up because we wanted to go out to the town early but did not want to get wet.  After breakfast we tried to leave the house several times  but came back for an umbrella , then a second time for a nylon bag from napkins holder and made a hat to keep the water off my head.  We walked to the area community center for a Farmer's Market, but the turn out was low due to the rain.  We walked around and tried some samples of bread, beers and got a lesson on bee processing by a lady selling honey.  From there we headed back to the house and got dried up a bit and headed back out to Vancouver, we were not going to let the rain stop us.
We bought round trip tickets to The Stadium/Chinatown Station because we wanted to see the  Gaslight steam-powered clock on the corner of Cambie and Water Street which was put in 1977.
Still raining, we walked around and found many nice shops.  I ended up buying a nice tall Vancouver coffee mug with a red maple leaf to take back to work to remind me of my trip.  Carmen bought some nice jade necklaces for the girls and we walked and had lunch.
After finding out that in Canada you do not need a prescription for really strong medicine I bought pain killers because my legs, knees and calves were killing me.

We went to the Vancouver Art Gallery where we saw some of Pablo Picasso's work.  My remark is the same as before "You call this art".   There was lots of his silly art work and it kept telling me - Why are you not drawing at home?  So I told Carmen that we need to take on another Family Art Project...this time a large piece.
We walked more shops, had more sweets and headed back to the B&B.

Carmen -  Today was a rainy day - we went back to Downtown Vancouver.....first we tried going to the Farmer's market near our B&B, but found that not many vendors were out due to the rain.  The rain was coming down hard, and my rain gear was not enough to keep me dry.  We agreed to go back to the B&B and see if the rain would stop.  The rain did not stop so we borrowed an umbrella and headed back out to Downtown Vancouver - to see the Picasso show at the Art Gallery.  Once at the gallery, Robert left me to go enjoy the art at his own pace....which was very fast.  I took my time and sat in on some of the videos and read the history behind some of the art work.  It is not all to my taste, but I enjoy seeing the pictures of Picasso and his artist friends.
What I most enjoyed about today was being in the crowd of umbrellas  - I especially loved seeing all the variety of umbrellas the young girls had.  They were shiny, colorful, and decorated with lace.  There were several stores that sold very expensive umbrellas.
