Beatiful day today after camping out last night in a free campsite we grabbed a few croissants in town and headed out - Our campsote only had two others, one with a an old RV and the other a couple who arrived late and got pretty wet.
Last night we arrived early and walked across the bike trail showered and set up tent before it started raining. We walked over to a restaurant near by, it was closed , we think because of Germany losing their WC game and no one was in the celebrating mood.
We rode out early but with a little rain, by lunch time our batteries were worned out when we came on a spot not sure wheter to go right or left , we saw that a couple of tour buses had gone past us, we followed them , then all of the sudden we come upon the Weltenburg AbbeyKloster WeltenburgMonastery founded in the 600s, with one of the world's first monastic breweries & a restaurant.
abbey. It is a beautiful place , built in the ---- We had lunch in their restaurant , I had the , it was one of the most delicious pieces of meat , Ive ever had. I asked for something traditional and got it, on the outside it was crunchy like a chicharon, Pork belly and on the inside the softess pork Ive ever had. It came with a potato ball that was also delicious. We did walk the grounds and enjoyed the Abbey. We did ask about spending the night , but at 45 Euros each , we passed on it and kept cycling.
After leaving the Abbey, we continued to ride wit it raining off ang on, in late afternoon we were looking for a hotel when we rode through the town of kelheim and saw the Sperger Gasthof (guesthouse) - It was the perfect place to spend the night, they had a water hose right out front and we were able to rinsed off our panniers and get the mud of our bikes, then we locked up our bikes in their garage and laid out all of our wet clothe around our room with hopes that it would be dry by morning time. We ended up having dinner at the hotel with other cyclist.
