Day 7 Pamplona a Puente de la Reyna a Estella June 6th
We sat around this table and talked about the trip having lunch - Neither of us could commit to continuing the journey. We rode in from Pamplona, it was a pretty warm day and already very exhausting by the time we past he windmills, Gabby was going strong until we had to start the climb into the Mills. Some local person tried to tell Gabby that it should not be so difficult to get to Puente de la Reyna, that we had chose to go the difficult climb to see the top of the hill. I had filmed us for a while and after slowly going with Gabby , I decided to go on ahead and rest at the top. She made it OK telling me that it was difficult, but she felt good about completing the climb. Now came the difficult time of climbing down the mountain in very loose rocks. We could only go so fast because the rocks were slippery and it was easy to loose your balance. Gabby was afraid to go fast in fear of a hard fall, but by going to slow it was easy to fall, which she did several times, the rocks were smooth and large which made it easy to fall if you did not keep a certain speed and balanced. Once down at the bottom of the descent we had reached Puente de la Reyna we needed a place to stay, Gabby could not go on to another town, it was late to go to another major town so we decided to stay, but by now two in the afternoon or so, the albergues were mostly filled up and we went from one to another being turned away, finally we were told of the one across the "Puente" we were told it was a hard climb to it. I did it fairly easy but it but it took Gabby about another 10-15 minutes, already in a bad mood, we checked in and were asked if we wanted the pilgrims dinner, Gabby asked me if I wanted it, but I told her.
